Shoshone County is a county located in the United States of Idaho. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 13771 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 12913, It is Idaho's 22nd most populous county. The county has a total area of 2635.5 square miles (6825.91 kmē), of which, 2633.91 square miles (6821.8 kmē) of it is land and 1.59 square miles (4.12 kmē) of it is water, making it the eighth largest by size in Idaho.

As of the census of 2000, there were 13771 people in the county, organized into 5906 households, and 3858 families residing in the county. The population density was 5.2 people per square mile (2.01/kmē), it is the 30th most populated county in terms of population density. There were 7057 housing units at an average density of 2.7 per square mile (1.04/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.3 persons, and the average family size was 2.82 persons. In the county Age distribution was 22.9% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 27.4% from 45 to 64, and 17.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 100.6 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 103.1 females. Its population was estimated at 12913 in July 2008, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 12345 White, 31 Black or African American, 247 American Indian, 36 Asian, 10 Native Hawaiian, and 244 from two or more races.
