Shippensburg Borough is a borough located in Cumberland and Franklin counties, Pennsylvania, in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 5586 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the borough is 5578, It is 246th most populous in Pennsylvania. It covers total area of 2.02 sq mi (5.23 sq km), makes it the 373rd largest by total area in Pennsylvania.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5586 residents, 2397 households, and 1138 families in the borough. The population density was 2772 people per square mile (1070.28/kmē), making it the 444th most densely populated borough in Pennsylvania. In the borough the population is diverse age-wise, with 17.6% under the age of 18, 28.5% from 18 to 24, 21.8% from 25 to 44, 16.4% from 45 to 64, and 15.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 85.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.5 males.
