Ship Bottom Borough is one of the borough of Ocean County, New Jersey, located towards the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 1384 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 1449, It is the 54th smallest by population in the U.S. state of New Jersey. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.99 square miles (2.56 square kilometre), of which, 0.7 square miles (1.81 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 87th smallest by area in the U.S. state of New Jersey.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 1384 people, 457 households, and 284 families residing in the borough. The population density was 1991.1 people per square mile (768.77/kmē), it is the 164th least populated borough in terms of population density. There were 2218 housing units at an average density of 3168.6 per square mile (1223.4/kmē). The average household size was 2.08 persons, and the average family size was 2.65 persons.
