Sheridan County is a county in the United States of North Dakota. The population of county in 2000 stood at 1710 as per the Census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 1266, It is third least populous county in North Dakota. The county encompasses an area of 1005.78 sq mi (2604.96 sq km ), of which, 971.75 square miles (2516.82 sq km) of it is land and 34.02 square miles (88.11 sq km) of it is water, it is the 14th smallest by area in the U.S. state of North Dakota.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1710 people in the county, organized into 731 households, and 515 families residing in the county. The population density was 1.8 people per square mile (0.69/kmē), it is the fourth least populated county in terms of population density. There were 924 housing units at an average density of 1 per square mile (0.39/kmē). The average household size was 2.31 and the average family size was 2.8. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 21.4% under the age of 18, 3.8% from 18 to 24, 19.9% from 25 to 44, 28.3% from 45 to 64, and 26.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 105.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.3 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 1266, The racial makeup of the county was 99.05% White, 0.16% Black or African American, 0.55% American Indian, 0% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.24% from two or more races.
