Sheridan City is a one of the Sheridan County, Wyoming, located in Western Region (Mountain) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 15804 inhabitants. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 17197, It is the sixth largest in terms of population. The city extends throughout a territory of 8.5 mi˛ (22.01 square kilometre ), of which, 8.49 square miles (21.99 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 49th largest by size in Wyoming.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 15804 people, 7005 households, and 4061 families residing in the city. The population density was 1862.4 people per square mile (719.08/km˛), it is the eighth most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Wyoming. There were 7413 housing units at an average density of 873.1 per square mile (337.11/km˛). The average household size was 2.21 persons, and the average family size was 2.88 persons. The population's age distribution was 23.1% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89 males. The median age is 39.3 years, the median age of male residents at 37.5 and the median age of female residents at 40.8. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 95.93% White, 0.22% Black or African American, 0.97% American Indian, 0.46% Asian, 0.2% Native Hawaiian, 1.37% from two or more races and 0.85% Other races.
