Shenandoah Borough is a one of the Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, located in Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 5624. The July 2008 population estimate is 5155, making it Pennsylvania's 241st largest. The borough spans an area of 1.58 mi˛ (4.09 sq km), of which, 1.52 square miles (3.94 sq km) of it is land and 0.06 square miles (0.16 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 496th largest by total area in Pennsylvania.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5624 residents, 2649 households, and 1381 families in the borough. The population density was 3710.7 people per square mile (1432.71/km˛), it is the 274th most populated borough in terms of population density. There were 3339 housing units at an average density of 2196.7 per square mile (848.15/km˛). The average household size was 2.07 persons, and the average family size was 2.84 persons. Age range in the borough was well distributed with 19% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 23.3% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 28.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 84.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.6 males. The median age of the borough's population was 45.2 years, the median age of male residents at 40.7 and the median age of female residents at 49.5. The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 97.4% White, 0.34% Black or African American, 0.25% American Indian, 0.36% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, 0.6% from two or more races and 1.01% Other races.
