As of July 2008, the estimated population was 4605, It is the 322nd most populous in the U.S. state of Illinois. It covers total area of 3.88 mi˛ (10.05 sq km), of which, 3.7 square miles (9.58 sq km) of it is land and 0.19 square miles (0.49 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 284th largest by total area among Illinois.
