Shelby City is one of the city of Shelby and Pottawattamie counties, Iowa, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 696. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 644, giving it the 381st largest population among Iowa. The city has a total area of 1.64 sq mi (4.25 sq km), making it Iowa's 225th largest by total area.
