Shawnee City is one of the city of Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, located towards the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. Shawnee City had an official population of 28692 in 2000. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 30562, making it Oklahoma's 13th largest. It is spread over 44.67 miē (115.69 kmē), of which, 42.26 square miles (109.45 kmē ) of it is land and 2.4 square miles (6.22 kmē) of it is water, it is the 16th largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks 13 in the size of its inland waterways in Oklahoma.

As of the census of 2000, there were 28692 people in the city, organized into 11311 households, and 7306 families residing in the city. The population density was 678.9 people per square mile (262.12/kmē), it is the 309th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Oklahoma.
