Shawnee City is a city located in the Johnson County, Kansas, United States. In 2000, the population was 47996. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 60954, It is the seventh largest in terms of population. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 42.54 square miles (110.18 sq km), of which, 41.74 square miles (108.11 sq km) of it is land and 0.8 square miles (2.07 sq km) of it is water, making it the sixth largest by size in Kansas. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in Kansas.

The population density was 1149.7 people per square mile (443.9/kmē), making its Kansas's 265th most densely populated city.
