Sharp County is a county located in the United States of Arkansas. Sharp County had an official population of 17119 in 2000. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 17866, making it Arkansas's 43rd largest county. The county has a total area of 606.35 mi˛ (1570.44 square kilometre), of which, 604.35 square miles (1565.26 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.99 square miles (5.15 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 18th smallest by size in Arkansas.

In the county Age distribution was 21.9% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 22.8% from 25 to 44, 25.5% from 45 to 64, and 23.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.2 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 17866, The racial makeup of the county was 96.28% White, 1.44% Black or African American, 0.71% American Indian, 0.17% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 1.38% from two or more races.
