Seward City, Alaska


Seward City is one of the city of Kenai Peninsula Borough, Alaska, located towards the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. Seward City had an official population of 2830 in 2000. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 3126, It is the 29th largest by population in the U.S. state of Alaska. Its area is just over 21.53 sq mi (55.76 square kilometre), of which, 14.44 square miles (37.4 square kilometre) of it is land and 7.09 square miles (18.36 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 183rd largest in terms of geographical size.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 2830 people, 917 households, and 556 families living in the city. The population density was 196 people per square mile (75.68/kmē), giving it the 41st most densely populated city among the Alaska. There were 1058 housing units at an average density of 73.3 per square mile (28.3/kmē). The average household size was 2.4 people, and the average family size was 3.04 people. The population's age distribution was 21.9% under the age of 18, 9% from 18 to 24, 35.9% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 7.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 150.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 166.6 males. The median age of the city's population was 37.1 years, the median age of male residents at 36.7 and the median age of female residents at 37.9. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 72.12% White, 2.44% Black or African American, 16.68% American Indian, 1.84% Asian, 0.18% Native Hawaiian, 5.87% from two or more races and 0.88% Other races.
