Sevier County is a United States county located in the United States of Arkansas. As of 2000 the population was 15757. Its population was estimated at 16519 in July 2008, making it Arkansas's 49th largest county. The county has a total area of 581.35 mi˛ (1505.69 square kilometre), of which, 563.94 square miles (1460.6 square kilometre) of it is land and 17.41 square miles (45.09 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the eighth smallest by size in Arkansas.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 15757 people, 5708 households, and 4226 families living in the county. The population density was 27.9 people per square mile (10.77/km˛), giving it the 39th most densely populated county among the Arkansas. There were 6434 housing units at an average density of 11.4 per square mile (4.4/km˛). The average household size was 2.73 persons, and the average family size was 3.19 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 28.2% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 27.7% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 13.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 16519, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 91.54% White, 4.56% Black or African American, 2.18% American Indian, 0.18% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 1.48% from two or more races.
