Sequoyah County is a one of the county from Oklahoma's 77 counties, located in Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 38972 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 41034, It is the 22nd most populous county in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. The county encompasses an area of 714.88 square miles (1851.53 kmē ), of which, 673.82 square miles (1745.19 kmē) of it is land and 41.06 square miles (106.34 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 52nd largest by total area among Oklahoma's county. It is ranks eighth in the size of its inland waterways in Oklahoma.

The population density was 57.8 people per square mile (22.32/kmē), making its Oklahoma's 15th most densely populated county. There were 16940 housing units at an average density of 25.1 per square mile (9.69/kmē). The average household size was 2.61 persons, and the average family size was 3.05 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 27.4% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 24% from 45 to 64, and 13.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 102.8 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 108.1 females. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 41034, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 28333 White, 832 Black or African American, 7955 American Indian, 113 Asian, 21 Native Hawaiian, and 3780 from two or more races.
