Scotts Bluff County is a county located in the United States of Nebraska. The county has a population of 36951 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 36554, It is the sixth largest in terms of population. It covers total area of 745.5 sq mi (1930.84 kmē), of which, 739.27 square miles (1914.7 kmē) of it is land and 6.22 square miles (16.11 kmē) of it is water, it is the 32nd largest by area in the U.S. state of Nebraska.

As of the census of 2000, there were 36951 people in the county, organized into 14887 households, and 10170 families residing in the county. The population density was 50 people per square mile (19.31/kmē), making it the ninth most densely populated county in Nebraska. There were 16119 housing units at an average density of 21.8 per square mile (8.42/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.44 persons, and the average family size was 2.97 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 25.9% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 25.4% from 25 to 44, 23% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 109.7 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 113.2 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 36554, The racial makeup of the county was 34742 White, 211 Black or African American, 974 American Indian, 265 Asian, 15 Native Hawaiian, and 347 from two or more races.
