Scott County, Virginia is a county of the United States of Virginia. It is home to over 23403 people (2000 census). Its population was estimated at 22850 in July 2008, It is the 74th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Virginia. The county comprises an area of 538.63 miē (1395.05 kmē), of which, 536.58 square miles (1389.74 kmē) of it is land and 2.05 square miles (5.31 kmē) of it is water, it is the 19th largest by area in the U.S. state of Virginia.

The population density was 43.6 people per square mile (16.83/kmē), it would be the 28th least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Virginia. In the Scott County, 20.6% of the population was under the age of 18, 7.5% were 18 to 24, 27.3% were 25 to 44, 26.8% were 45 to 64, and 17.8% who were 65 or older.
