It covers total area of 717.64 square miles (1858.68 kmē), of which, 717.52 square miles (1858.37 kmē) of it is land and 0.12 square miles (0.31 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 68th largest by total area among Kansas's county.

For every 100 females there were 97.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.4 males.
