Scott County is a one of the county from Iowa's 99 counties, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 158668 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 164690, It is the third largest in terms of population. The county extends throughout a territory of 468.17 mi˛ (1212.55 square kilometre ), of which, 457.93 square miles (1186.03 square kilometre) of it is land and 10.24 square miles (26.52 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 23rd smallest by size in Iowa.

The population density was 346.5 people per square mile (133.78/km˛), giving it the second most densely populated county among the Iowa. There were 65649 housing units at an average density of 143.4 per square mile (55.37/km˛). The average household size was 2.49 people, and the average family size was 3.04 people. Age range in the county was well distributed with 26.5% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 23% from 45 to 64, and 11.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.5 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 164690, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 146106 White, 11469 Black or African American, 701 American Indian, 3420 Asian, 37 Native Hawaiian, and 2957 from two or more races.
