Scott County, Illinois is a county located in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. The county has a population of 5537 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 5181, making it Illinois's fourth smallest county. The county encompasses an area of 252.77 miē (654.67 kmē ), of which, 250.92 square miles (649.88 kmē) of it is land and 1.85 square miles (4.79 kmē) of it is water, it is the eighth smallest by area in the U.S. state of Illinois.
