Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania is a county of the United States of Pennsylvania. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 150336 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 147254, It is 22nd most populous county in Pennsylvania. It has total area of 782.61 miē (2026.95 kmē), of which, 778.36 square miles (2015.94 kmē) of it is land and 4.25 square miles (11.01 kmē) of it is water, it is the 26th largest by area in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 150336 people, 60530 households, and 40116 families residing in the county. The population density was 193.1 people per square mile (74.56/kmē), giving it the 27th most densely populated county among the Pennsylvania. There were 67806 housing units at an average density of 87.1 per square mile (33.63/kmē). The average household size was 2.36 and the average family size was 2.93. In the Schuylkill County, 20.9% of the population was under the age of 18, 7.2% were 18 to 24, 28.3% were 25 to 44, 23.8% were 45 to 64, and 19.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.2 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 147254, The racial makeup of the county was 141135 White, 4441 Black or African American, 149 American Indian, 761 Asian, 18 Native Hawaiian, and 750 from two or more races.
