Schuyler County is a county located in the United States of New York. In 2000, county's population was 19224 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 18888, It is the second least populous county in the U.S. state of New York. The county extends throughout a territory of 342.22 mi˛ (886.35 square kilometre ), of which, 328.71 square miles (851.35 square kilometre) of it is land and 13.51 square miles (34.99 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the ninth smallest by area in the U.S. state of New York.

The population density was 58.5 people per square mile (22.59/km˛), it would be the 11th least densely populated county in the U.S. state of New York. There were 9181 housing units at an average density of 27.9 per square mile (10.77/km˛). The average household size was 2.52 people, and the average family size was 2.96 people. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 25.3% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.6 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 18888, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 95.96% White, 2.19% Black or African American, 0.49% American Indian, 0.35% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 0.99% from two or more races.
