Schoharie County is a county in the United States of New York. The population of county in 2000 stood at 31582 as per the Census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 31910, It is the fifth least populous county in the U.S. state of New York. It covers total area of 626.36 square miles (1622.26 kmē), of which, 622.02 square miles (1611.02 kmē) of it is land and 4.34 square miles (11.24 kmē) of it is water, making it New York's 40th largest county by total area.

For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.8 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 31910, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 96.59% White, 1.53% Black or African American, 0.37% American Indian, 0.52% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 0.97% from two or more races.
