Sawmills Town is a town located in the Caldwell County, North Carolina, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 4921 inhabitants. The town's estimated population as of July 2008 was 4931, It is the 122nd most populous in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The town extends throughout a territory of 6.26 square miles (16.21 square kilometre ), of which, 6.25 square miles (16.19 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 133rd largest by area in the U.S. state of North Carolina.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 4921 people, 1942 households, and 1448 families residing in the town. The population density was 787.4 people per square mile (304.02/kmē), it is North Carolina's 287th most densely populated town. There were 2045 housing units at an average density of 327.2 per square mile (126.33/kmē). The average household size was 2.53 people, and the average family size was 2.89 people. In the town the population is diverse age-wise, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 32.3% from 25 to 44, 24% from 45 to 64, and 9.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97 males. The median age was 34.4 years, the median age of male residents at 33.5 and the median age of female residents at 35.4. The racial makeup of the town was 4790 White, 27 Black or African American, 10 American Indian, 8 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, 28 from two or more races and 57 Ohter races.
