Sauk Centre City is one of the city of Stearns County, Minnesota, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. It is home to over 3930 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 3945, making it Minnesota's 148th largest. The city extends throughout a territory of 3.97 mi˛ (10.28 square kilometre ), of which, 3.72 square miles (9.63 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.25 square miles (0.65 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 192nd largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3930 people in the city, organized into 1616 households, and 1042 families living in the city. The population density was 1057.2 people per square mile (408.19/km˛), making its Minnesota's 267th most densely populated city. There were 1709 housing units at an average density of 459.4 per square mile (177.38/km˛). The average household size was 2.38 people, and the average family size was 3.01 people. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 25.6% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 25.1% from 25 to 44, 18.6% from 45 to 64, and 22.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 89.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.4 males. The median age is 39.1 years, The median age of males was 36.9 years, for females the median age was 40.6 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 3878 White, 12 Black or African American, 5 American Indian, 10 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 15 from two or more races and 10 Ohter races.
