Santa Rosa County is a one of the county from Florida's 67 counties, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 117743 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 150053, giving it the 30th largest population among Florida's county. The county extends throughout a territory of 1173.57 miē (3039.53 kmē ), of which, 1016.93 square miles (2633.84 kmē) of it is land and 156.65 square miles (405.72 kmē) of it is water, making it Florida's 17th largest county by total area.

The population density was 115.8 people per square mile (44.71/kmē), it is the 33rd most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Florida. There were 49119 housing units at an average density of 48.3 per square mile (18.65/kmē). The average household size was 2.63 people, and the average family size was 3 people. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 26.6% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 31.1% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 11% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.9 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 150053, The racial makeup of the county was 89.17% White, 5.82% Black or African American, 0.93% American Indian, 1.83% Asian, 0.09% Native Hawaiian, and 2.16% from two or more races.
