Sandusky County is a county in the United States of Ohio. The population of the county was 61792 as per the 2000 census data. The July 2008 population estimate is 60637, It is 42nd most populous county in Ohio. The county spans an area of 417.77 sq mi (1082.02 square kilometre), of which, 409.18 square miles (1059.77 square kilometre) of it is land and 8.59 square miles (22.25 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 25th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Ohio.

The population density was 151 people per square mile (58.3/kmē), giving it the 34th most densely populated county among the Ohio. In the county the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 23% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.6 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 60637, The racial makeup of the county was 57735 White, 1833 Black or African American, 99 American Indian, 248 Asian, 9 Native Hawaiian, and 713 from two or more races.
