Sand Springs City is a one of the Tulsa and Osage counties, Oklahoma, located in Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 17451 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 18489, making it Oklahoma's 24th largest. The city has a total area of 20.95 mi˛ (54.26 square kilometre), of which, 18.68 square miles (48.38 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.27 square miles (5.88 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 46th largest by area in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. It is ranks 14 in the size of its inland waterways in Oklahoma.

As of the census of 2000, there were 17451 people in the city, organized into 6564 households, and 4869 families residing in the city. The population density was 934.2 people per square mile (360.7/km˛), it is the 218th most populated city in terms of population density. There were 6979 housing units at an average density of 373.6 per square mile (144.25/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.59 persons, and the average family size was 3.05 persons. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 28.4% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87 males. The median age was 35.1 years, The median age of males was 33.1 years, for females the median age was 36.8 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 14981 White, 323 Black or African American, 1245 American Indian, 76 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, 741 from two or more races and 82 Ohter races.
