San Luis Obispo City is a United States city located in the San Luis Obispo County, California, United States. In 2000, the population was 44174. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 43636, making it the 174th most populous in California. The city has a total area of 10.84 sq mi (28.08 kmē), of which, 10.66 square miles (27.61 kmē) of it is land and 0.18 square miles (0.47 kmē) of it is water, it is the 309th largest by area in the U.S. state of California.
