Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 77880, It is the 81st largest by population in the U.S. state of California. It is spread over 15.56 square miles (40.3 sq km), of which, 13.13 square miles (34.01 sq km ) of it is land and 2.43 square miles (6.29 sq km) of it is water, making it the 217th largest by size in California.
