San Juan County, Washington


San Juan County is a county located in Washington, in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. The population of the county was 14077 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 15294 in July 2008, making it Washington's eighth smallest county. The county spans an area of 621.07 square miles (1608.56 sq km), of which, 174.92 square miles (453.04 sq km) of it is land and 446.15 square miles (1155.52 sq km) of it is water, making it the fourth smallest by size in Washington. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in Washington.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 14077 residents, 6466 households, and 4014 families in the county. The population density was 80.5 people per square mile (31.08/kmē), it is the 11th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Washington. There were 9752 housing units at an average density of 55.8 per square mile (21.54/kmē). The average household size was 2.16 people, and the average family size was 2.65 people. In the county Age distribution was 19.1% under the age of 18, 4.5% from 18 to 24, 21.7% from 25 to 44, 35.7% from 45 to 64, and 19% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 105.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 107.5 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 15294, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 95.63% White, 0.33% Black or African American, 0.89% American Indian, 1.24% Asian, 0.1% Native Hawaiian, and 1.81% from two or more races.
