San Juan Capistrano City is a city located in Orange County, California, in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. In 2000, the population was 33826. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 34793, It is California's 218th largest by population . The city encompasses an area of 14.34 square miles (37.14 kmē ), of which, 14.21 square miles (36.8 kmē) of it is land and 0.14 square miles (0.36 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 231st largest by total area among California.
