The city extends throughout a territory of 231.92 square miles (600.67 sq km ), of which, 46.69 square miles (120.93 sq km) of it is land and 185.22 square miles (479.72 sq km) of it is water, it is the third largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks first in the size of its inland waterways in California.
