Saluda City, North Carolina


Saluda City is one of the city of Polk and Henderson counties, North Carolina, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 575 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 581 in July 2008, It is the 172nd least populous in the U.S. state of North Carolina. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.56 square miles (4.04 kmē), makes it the 431st largest by total area in North Carolina.

As of the census of 2000, there were 575 people in the city, organized into 265 households, and 171 families living in the city. The population density was 369.1 people per square mile (142.51/kmē), giving it the 159th least densely populated city among the North Carolina. There were 429 housing units at an average density of 275 per square mile (106.18/kmē). The average household size was 2.17 persons, and the average family size was 2.7 persons. In the city Age distribution was 17.6% under the age of 18, 4.9% from 18 to 24, 23.3% from 25 to 44, 34.1% from 45 to 64, and 20.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 90.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.3 males. The median age was 47.8 years, The median age of males was 45.5 years, for females the median age was 49.2 years. The racial makeup of the city was 558 White, 11 Black or African American, American Indian, 1 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, 4 from two or more races and Ohter races.
