The census designated place has a population of 4484 as per the 2000 census data. It is the 124th largest by population in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. The census designated place spans an area of 7.38 square miles (19.11 sq km), of which, 5.9 square miles (15.28 sq km) of it is land and 1.48 square miles (3.83 sq km) of it is water, making it Massachusetts's 74th largest by total area.
