Salem City is a one of the Utah County, Utah, located in Western Region (Mountain) of United States. Salem City had an official population of 4372 in 2000. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 6435, making it Utah's 83rd largest. The city spans an area of 5.32 square miles (13.78 square kilometre), of which, 5.3 square miles (13.73 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 129th largest by total area among Utah.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4372 people in the city, organized into 1128 households, and 1010 families living in the city. The population density was 825 people per square mile (318.53/kmē), making it the 109th most densely populated city in Utah. There were 1166 housing units at an average density of 220 per square mile (84.94/kmē). The average household size was 3.86 and the average family size was 4.14. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 40.6% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 25% from 25 to 44, 16.4% from 45 to 64, and 7.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 102.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.2 males. The median age is 24.2 years, the median age of male residents at 22.8 and the median age of female residents at 25.7. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 4244 White, 3 Black or African American, 4 American Indian, 6 Asian, 12 Native Hawaiian, 42 from two or more races and 61 Ohter races.
