Salem City is a city located in Salem County, New Jersey, in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 5857. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 5661, It is New Jersey's 263rd largest by population . It has total area of 2.8 square miles (7.25 sq km), of which, 2.61 square miles (6.76 sq km) of it is land and 0.19 square miles (0.49 sq km) of it is water, making it New Jersey's 214th largest by total area.
