Sac County is a United States county located in the United States of Iowa. It is home to over 11529 people (2000 census). In July 2008, its estimated population was 10311, It is the 24th least populous county in the U.S. state of Iowa. The county comprises an area of 578.38 mi˛ (1498 square kilometre), of which, 575.82 square miles (1491.37 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.56 square miles (6.63 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 37th largest by area in the U.S. state of Iowa.

In the county the population was spread out, with 24.1% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 23.5% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 22.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 104.7 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 108.9 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 10311, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 98.48% White, 0.36% Black or African American, 0.12% American Indian, 0.38% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 0.65% from two or more races.
