Rutland County is a county in the United States of Vermont. In 2000, county's population was 63400 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 63331, It is the second most populous county in the U.S. state of Vermont. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 944.77 square miles (2446.94 kmē), of which, 932.53 square miles (2415.24 kmē) of it is land and 12.24 square miles (31.7 kmē) of it is water, it is the second largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks sixth in the size of its inland waterways in Vermont.

The population density was 68 people per square mile (26.25/kmē), it is Vermont's fifth most densely populated county. In July 2008, its estimated population was 63331, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 97.85% White, 0.58% Black or African American, 0.23% American Indian, 0.51% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 0.79% from two or more races.
