Rutland City is a United States city located in the Rutland County, Vermont, United States. It is home to over 17292 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the estimated population was 16742, It is the second largest in terms of population. Its area is just over 7.68 square miles (19.89 square kilometre), of which, 7.64 square miles (19.79 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the eighth largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks 16 in the size of its inland waterways in Vermont.
