Rutherford Town is one of the town of Gibson County, Tennessee, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The population of the town was 1272 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the town is 1255, making it the 239th most populous in Tennessee. Its area is just over 2.27 sq mi (5.88 square kilometre), of which, 2.25 square miles (5.83 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 122nd smallest by total area among Tennessee.
