Rusk County is a county in the United States of Wisconsin. As of 2000 the population was 15347. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 14389, It is Wisconsin's eighth least populous county. The county encompasses an area of 930.89 mi˛ (2410.99 sq km ), of which, 913.13 square miles (2365 sq km) of it is land and 17.77 square miles (46.02 sq km) of it is water, it is the 25th largest by area in the U.S. state of Wisconsin.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 15347 people, 6095 households, and 4158 families residing in the county. The population density was 16.8 people per square mile (6.49/km˛), it is the ninth least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. There were 7609 housing units at an average density of 8.3 per square mile (3.2/km˛). The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 2.97. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 24.8% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 24.8% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 18.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.4 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 14389, The racial makeup of the county was 14064 White, 74 Black or African American, 81 American Indian, 46 Asian, 15 Native Hawaiian, and 109 from two or more races.
