Rowlett City, Dallas and Rockwall counties, Texas is a city located in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 44503 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 55780, giving it the 55th largest population among Texas. The city comprises an area of 20.25 square miles (52.45 kmē), of which, 20.23 square miles (52.4 kmē) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 kmē) of it is water, it is the 122nd largest in terms of geographical size.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 44503 people, 14266 households, and 12353 families living in the city. The population density was 2200.2 people per square mile (849.5/kmē), it is Texas's 148th most densely populated city. There were 14580 housing units at an average density of 720.7 per square mile (278.26/kmē). The average household size was 3.09 persons, and the average family size was 3.33 persons. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 33.5% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 36.9% from 25 to 44, 18.8% from 45 to 64, and 5.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.7 males. The median age was 32.8 years, the median age of male residents at 32.4 and the median age of female residents at 33.1. The racial makeup of the city was 81.81% White, 9.01% Black or African American, 0.49% American Indian, 3.33% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, 1.78% from two or more races and 3.53% Other races.
