Rosebud County is one of the 56 county of Montana, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 9383 as per the Census data. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 9190, It is the 22nd largest county by population in the U.S. state of Montana. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 5026.94 square miles (13019.71 kmē), of which, 5012.37 square miles (12981.98 kmē) of it is land and 14.57 square miles (37.74 kmē) of it is water, giving it the fifth largest by total area among Montana's county.
