Roscommon County is a county in the United States of Michigan. Roscommon County had an official population of 25469 in 2000. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 25042, making it Michigan's 27th smallest county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 579.84 square miles (1501.78 square kilometre), of which, 521.4 square miles (1350.42 square kilometre) of it is land and 58.44 square miles (151.36 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 26th smallest by total area among Michigan's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 25469 residents, 11250 households, and 7619 families in the county. The population density was 48.8 people per square mile (18.84/kmē), it is Michigan's 51st most densely populated county. There were 23109 housing units at an average density of 44.3 per square mile (17.1/kmē). The average household size was 2.23 persons, and the average family size was 2.69 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 20% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 21.4% from 25 to 44, 29.3% from 45 to 64, and 23.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.3 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 25042, The racial makeup of the county was 24411 White, 137 Black or African American, 173 American Indian, 101 Asian, 11 Native Hawaiian, and 209 from two or more races.
