Rockingham County is a county in the United States of North Carolina. The population of the county was 91928 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 92282, making it North Carolina's 30th largest county. The county extends throughout a territory of 572.33 sq mi (1482.33 square kilometre ), of which, 566.44 square miles (1467.07 square kilometre) of it is land and 5.9 square miles (15.28 square kilometre) of it is water, making it North Carolina's 30th largest county by total area.

For every 100 females there were 93.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.8 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 92282, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 79.24% White, 19.09% Black or African American, 0.34% American Indian, 0.45% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 0.82% from two or more races.
