Rockingham County is a county located in New Hampshire, in the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 277359 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 297350, giving it the second largest population among New Hampshire's county. The county has a total area of 793.96 square miles (2056.35 square kilometre), of which, 694.96 square miles (1799.94 square kilometre) of it is land and 99 square miles (256.41 square kilometre) of it is water, making it New Hampshire's sixth largest county by total area. It is ranks first in the size of its inland waterways in New Hampshire.

As of the census of 2000, there were 277359 people, 104529 households, and 74358 families residing in the county. The population density was 399.1 people per square mile (154.09/kmē), making it the second most densely populated county in New Hampshire. There were 113023 housing units at an average density of 162.6 per square mile (62.78/kmē). The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 3.11. In the county the population was spread out, with 26.4% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 32.8% from 25 to 44, 24.4% from 45 to 64, and 10.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 102.6 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 104.8 females. The July 2008 population estimate is 297350, The racial makeup of the county was 286630 White, 2574 Black or African American, 573 American Indian, 4714 Asian, 112 Native Hawaiian, and 2747 from two or more races.
