Rockaway Borough is a one of the Morris County, New Jersey, located in Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. The borough has a population of 6473 as per the 2000 census data. The July 2008 population estimate is 6263, It is the 247th most populous in the U.S. state of New Jersey. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.11 mi˛ (5.46 square kilometre), of which, 2.09 square miles (5.41 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 282nd largest by total area among New Jersey.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6473 people, 457 households, and 284 families living in the borough. The population density was 3098.9 people per square mile (1196.49/km˛), it is 231st most densely populated borough in New Jersey.
