Rock Valley City is a city located in Sioux County, Iowa, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 2702 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 2945, It is the 120th most populous in the U.S. state of Iowa. Its area is just over 1.74 sq mi (4.51 sq km), of which, 1.69 square miles (4.38 sq km) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 sq km) of it is water, making it Iowa's 217th largest by total area.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 2702 people, 1124 households, and 751 families residing in the city. The population density was 1599.9 people per square mile (617.72/kmē), it is Iowa's 100th most densely populated city. There were 1202 housing units at an average density of 711.2 per square mile (274.6/kmē). The average household size was 2.38 persons, and the average family size was 3 persons. Age range in the city was well distributed with 25.4% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 18.3% from 45 to 64, and 22.3% who were 65 or older.
