Rock Island County had an official population of 149374 in 2000. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 146886, It is Illinois's 14th most populous county. The county encompasses an area of 451.16 miē (1168.5 kmē ), of which, 426.75 square miles (1105.28 kmē) of it is land and 24.4 square miles (63.2 kmē) of it is water, it is the 62nd largest by area in the U.S. state of Illinois. It is ranks sixth in the size of its inland waterways in Illinois.
