Rock County is a county located in Nebraska, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. Rock County had an official population of 1756 in 2000. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 1508, making it Nebraska's 14th smallest county. The county comprises an area of 1011.85 sq mi (2620.68 sq km), of which, 1008.46 square miles (2611.9 sq km) of it is land and 3.4 square miles (8.81 sq km) of it is water, making it Nebraska's 16th largest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1756 people, 763 households, and 501 families living in the county. The population density was 1.7 people per square mile (0.66/kmē), it is 16th least densely populated county in Nebraska. There were 935 housing units at an average density of 0.9 per square mile (0.35/kmē). The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.84. In the county the population was spread out, with 23% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 23.6% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 22.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 108.3 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 111.3 females. In July 2008, its estimated population was 1508, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 1492 White, 0 Black or African American, 8 American Indian, 3 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 5 from two or more races.
